For sale is a rare 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible located in our Indianapolis showroom. To commemorate Buick's 50th anniversary, Buick introduced the luxurious, limited production 1953 Skylark convertible. This was based on the 1953 Roadmaster convertible but was customized on the assembly line with the windshield being chopped down 3" and they also chopped and sectioned the doors creating a distinct dip in the beltline that was unique to the Skylark and subsequently copied in following years for Buick and other auto makers. They also lowered the suspension allowing the Skylark to sit 4" lower than the Roadmaster adding to the sleek appearance. Other unique items on the Skylark included special leather upholstery, slimmed down exterior sweep spear trim, and full wheel openings that show off the beautiful Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels. The Skylark also came equipped with every power option available for its time including power steering, power brakes, power windows, power convertible top, power seat, and a power antenna. With only 1,690 Skylarks being produced in 1953 this car is a rare find and is still one of the most sought after cars from the 1950's.
This 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible is powered by its original, numbers matching 322 CID V8 engine, backed by a Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission, and running to a standard rear end with 3.60 gears all with 5,000 miles since being rebuilt. Options on this 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible include: AM Radio, Power Convertible Top, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Seat, Power Windows, Power Antenna, Leather Interior, Wire Wheels, and Wide White Wall Bias Ply Tires. This beautiful Skylark underwent a detailed 8 year long restoration which included complete rebuilding of the engine, transmission, interior, brake system, and hydraulic systems. The generator, starter, radiator and heater cores were also rebuilt along a complete detailing of the engine compartment. This Skylark also was outfitted with new wiring, side glass, rubber seals and a new battery. All the chrome on the car was replated and really sets this spectacular Buick off. The car was repainted this year in a gorgeous Matador Red base coat/clear coat paint and is accented with the correct white wheel wells and brake drums as per factory specifications. The interior is also been redone back to original appearance with the correct red and white leather upholstery is topped with the white convertible top. This car is a proven show winner as it received an AACA Senior Award back in 2003 and is sure to take many more awards home for its new owner.
