Vehicle Description
All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed. Here’s a great example of an early Ford Galaxie 500XL. This 1964 model had an accident- and rust-free life followed by a frame-off professional restoration. It has a lot of desirable features; straight body, shiny black paint, tri-power 390ci motor, air conditioning, and more.
These Galaxies have such a distinctive look, and this 2-door fastback style is no exception. This car was stripped to bare metal as part of the restoration. A section of the trunk floor was replaced due to pinholes; all other steel is original. The car was then repainted its original Raven Black which looks fantastic on a straight car like this one, without any waves or dimples. The bumpers were rechromed and much of the trim was reconditioned or replaced.
The original 289ci 2-barrel was not going to cut it, so a new 390ci motor was built for this car. The highlight has to be the tri-power intake and its three 2-barrel carburetors. These have been jetted and tuned for good street performance, and there is an electric choke as well for easy starts. The transmission is a C6 automatic with a shift kit, and the rear end is a limited-slip Ford 9” with 3.25 gears.
This Galaxie is equipped with power steering for easy maneuvering. The brakes have been converted to front discs along with a dual-reservoir master cylinder. There are many new parts throughout. Note too the extra bar connecting the lower control arms for more stable steering under extreme conditions.
The black interior looks fantastic. As you may know, the top-of-the-line 500XL has many unique interior items that are very difficult to find. Still most everything here is new or reconditioned. The bucket seats and matching rear bench have the correct white piping and are surprisingly comfortable. The center console and dash are in great condition and everything is in good working order. There are some aftermarket gauges along with a digital AM/FM stereo. And of course there is the Vintage Air a/c system!
The 1960-64 Galaxie continues to grow in popularity. Not only does it have a great look, but it’s also a very practical full-frame car with plenty of interior room. This example has all the work done for you, and done well. All it needs is a new home.
