Vehicle Description
For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. This Camaro has come a long way and is now a dedicated 1/8th mile drag car. Power comes from a fire breathing 427 that has been bored .120 to 452 cubic inches. It is equipped with a Ken Jones 1300 Dominator carburetor, aluminum high rise intake manifold, 360 ProLine aluminum heads, new 427 concrete block with stud kit, steel crank, Bill Miller aluminum connecting rods and an Ultra Dyne camshaft with .725/.725 lift with 282/292 @ .050 duration. Machine work was completed by Chickens Performance and assembly by Schaffer Motor Works. Power is estimated at 730 and is sent through a beefed-up TH-400 reverse manual valve body with a 5,500 stall converter, trans brake and 7AL delay box. The rear is a Dana 60 housing 5.13 gears with Strange axles. The car is currently set up for 1/8th mile runs and is a consistent low six second car. Brakes are four-wheel Wilwoods with a line lock and work very well. The engine and tires only have 3 passes while the trans and rear have near 20 passes. The car itself is an original '67 Camaro and still wears most of its original sheet metal and is painted what appears to be a common favorite Hugger Orange with yellow SS stripes. The car is still all steel with exception to a fiberglass lift off hood. Even though the interior has been gutted for weight, the original and attractive cone shaped gauges are still in place. The rest of the interior consist of toggle switches, fuses, racing bucket seat, harness, cage, shifter and delay box.
