This absolutely gorgeous and perfectly sorted out 1970 Chevelle SS Super Sport Coupe has been enthusiast owned, built and driven.
This car has been featured in shows and magazines, including Muscle Care Milestones in 2009, won awards at Super Chevy and the NSRA. This SS was also featured in the Goodguy's Yearbook TWICE. This FRAME. Off restoration has been done right with no expense spared. This SS will come with all receipts for work done, showing tens of thousands of dollars in custom work, including being restored from top to bottom.
The restoration was performed by NBS Performance. The frame of the vehicle is powder coated silver to match the car, accompanied by Laker Powder Coating Suspension mods include powder coated tubular A arms up front and control arms in the rear, both from BRM fabrication. Oversized sway bars were also added - 1.5 up front and 1 in the re4ar, along with QAI shocks and new 13 inch Centerline Galaxy CUSTOM wheels wrapped in Nitto 450 rubber in excellent condition (stock wheels are also included).
Enhanced Concepts of Clearwater Florida fitted this SS with a custom airbag system. This Chevelle used air bags to create its adjustable attitude. Custom mounts were fabricated for all 4 bags, a custom fitted nitrogen bottle inside the rear of the trunk to activate the bags. Accuride valves and a combination of 3/8 up and 1/4 down lines raise and lower the cars profile to your exact desires. while a Viair gauge in the console monitors the system.
ALL of the chassis details are in place, the original 396 V8 motor has been professionally, and thoroughly overhauled by the masters at Nelson Competition in Pinellas Park, FL Bored to a 409cid, the short block is equipped the new 10:1 Diamond Racing Pistons, Clevite bearings and the ARP rod bolts. Valve train upgrades include Competition Cams Murtha Thumpr Hydraulic roller cam, 7/16 push rods and Competition Pro Magnum roller rockers. Edelrock aluminum heads were ported to match the Edelbrock Air Gap Intake to ensure unobstructed breathing. A Holley Pro Series 750 cfm carb. energized by a Holley High flow mechanical fuel pump, delivers air and a 92 octane mix, while the MSD pro billet distributor and 6 AL, ignition box provides precisely timed EXPLOSIONS. The Hooker 2.25 inch long tube he4aders dump waste gasses into an aluminized custom exhaust, fitted with an X pipe, and dual Spin Tech mufflers to make the SS RIP down the road.
With all of these modern components, they outperform the original factory package, creating a mind bending 602 HORSEPOWER at 6200 RPM and matted to a 5 Speed Tremek TKO transmission with a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate and are protected by a Lakewood scatter shield. The rear of this SS is a Detroit Truetrac differential fitted with a strange axle and 3:73 gears.
As you can tell by our photos the styling of this SS is basically original. The front AND rear original bumpers are also included with this sale. The interior seats are ORIGINAL; however they were refreshed with black vinyl and tweed. The center console has also been upholstered to match and engraved with a billet shift pattern. The interior has been professionally pointed Cadillac Silver Metallic and was done by Straightline Body Shop in Pinellas Park, FL., no expense has been spared.
The original gauges are upgraded to Autometer gauges, the air suspension controls and the Vintage Air controls have been nicely integrated into the dash to give it a nice clean look. The interior AC is ICE COLD and works perfectly.
