Don't you just love original classic cars that haven't been messed with. Very well maintained throughout their life, and continue to provide a quality, fun drive-ability, that most cars of the 60's decade have lost, due to teen ownership, poor service, or neglect?
Well, this '61 Galaxie possesses none of those last three traits mentioned, because the the folks that own this car, have been the sole owners since 1963 when the Galaxie was just 2 years old!
An Oregon car all of it's life, and garage kept means there is no rust present in, around, or under the car.
The Raven black paint is the same coat this Club Sedan wore as it rolled out of the Twin Cities, Minnesota factory. Keep in mind, that the paint being original to this car, and never having so much as a fender resprayed, It does show wear expected from over a half a century of use.
That said, excellent panel fit, door alignment, and the fact that it is all original means that this Galaxie shares a rare quality not seen everyday in the classic car world.
The engine is original to the car, and has been rebuilt, and retains the starting and run-ability Ford intended all those decades ago.
The 3 speed overdrive transmission shifts flawlessly with it's new clutch, and with power steering and new brakes, suffice it to say, this Galaxie is an “Excellent Driver”.
The interior is very clean, mostly original except for the factory pattern re-upholstered seats, and new carpeting. The dash is nice, clear to read, and an added oil pressure gauge shows you the 352 is pumping strong.
The undercarriage of the Galaxie is also as original, meaning there's no rust to be seen, nor has there been any painting or detailing. Just a nice, clean dry undercarriage.
The Moons and rims are a period choice, look nice with the white wall radials, which, by the way, lend to the smooth driving quality over bias ply originals.
This car is not just a pleasure to drive, but is truly a rolling piece of automotive originality that's been nicely preserved and cared for.
