Vehicle Description
The Willys-Overland nameplate dates back to 1908. Willys was the registered trademark owner for the name Jeep. Sold as a mid-year upgrade for $1490 the 1950 Willys Jeepster VJ-673 was only 1 of 1779 to be produced with the Lightning 6 cylinder engine. Other upgrades included a redesigned dash, grill and rounded front fenders with a peak. Produced from 1948 to 1950, the Jeepster was last sold in early 1951. The Willys-Overland company and the Jeep trademark were ultimately sold to Kaiser in 1953. The 1950 Willys-Overland Jeepster model represents the last true phaeton (an open weather cockpit vehicle without a method to fully enclose) to be produced by an American automobile manufacturer.
