Vehicle Description
This 1949 Willys Jeepster 2dr Phaeton Convertible, finished in Fiesta Yellow with Burgundy and Black Two-Tone Interior with Black Folding Soft Top, has the look that will make it an instant hit at any show or cruise in. 134ci/65hp 4-Cylinder 'Go-Devil' Engine. 3-Speed Manual Trans. Stock Steel Body. Chrome Bumpers. Rear-mounted spare tire. The trademark square Jeep fenders are present on the Jeepster, but the chrome-plated step-pads, beltline trim and other brightwork were intended to add some eye-appeal for the car-buying public of the day. Drum brakes at all 4 corners provided the stopping power, and the Jeepster's front end and single transverse leaf spring suspension was the same as that used on the Willys Station Wagon, as was the rear driveline. The longitudinal rear leaf springs and the flat-top rear fenders were direct take-offs from the Jeep truck. In total, only 19,132 Jeepsters were produced durind its 3-year production run from 1948-1950.The Jeepster has an undeniable charm and has nearly universal acceptance among car enthusiasts, equally welcome in the company of hot rods as it is at Pebble Beach. They make cheerful summer cruisers and are simple to maintain. You certainly wouldn't be far from the mark if you said the Jeepster was the original "crossover" vehicle, since it was indeed an attempt at being a passenger car while still maintaining some of the traditional Jeep traits and appearance. The Willys Jeepster was an ingenious design by renowned designer Brooks Stevens, which combined a four-passenger phaeton with soft top that evoked the appearance of the wartime Jeep. The Willys Jeepster offered few options, and the same 62hp, 134cid (2.2litre) straight 4-cylinder "Go Devil" engine used in the CJ model also powered the Jeepster. This engine was well suited to the Jeep, which was smaller, lighter, and designed to slowly navigate difficult terrain. Transmission was a three-speed manual. For more information on this 1949 Willys Jeepster, or any of our 100+ Classic, Collectible, and Special Interest Cars always in our inventory, please call our friendly and knowledgeable sales staff or always feel free to drop by our 40,000 sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home to the West Coast's most exciting inventory of Luxury, Exotic, Sports and Collectible Cars.
