The second generation; or C2 body style was released with significant style changes and performance enhancements. Chevrolet launched the now infamous Sting Ray name; attaching to the first ever offered Corvette coupe; and for the first; and only time in their history; offered the coupe with a split rear window configuration. The hidden taillights and tapered rear deck provided an all new look for the sports car; giving America another reason to fall in love with Corvette all over again.
