When buyer’s fees were added, a 1970 Ford Boss 429 Mustang that hammered sold at the Fall Carlisle Auction late last month set a record for the highest price paid at a sale in Carlisle, Pennsylvania — and did so by nearly $30,000.

The Mustang was among 419 consignments crossing the block at an auction at which sales totaled $4.6 million, a 38 percent increase compared to the same event in 2015.

The sale also posted a 60 percent high sell-through rate than a year ago.

The sale featured three cars offered to benefit area charities. A 150-passenger 1999 Chevrolet bus and a 2003 Ford Sport Track raised $3,800 for Carlisle Cares and a 1985 Oldsmobile Toronado raised $450 for the American Red Cross.
