Editor’s note: This is the 23rd in a 30-day series featuring cars from the Tammy Allen Collection to be sold October 13-15 at Barrett-Jackson’s 2016 Las Vegas Auction.

Produced between 1967 and 1969, the first-generation Chevrolet Camaro was Chevy’s answer to the Ford Mustang and featured a new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and, in 1969, 12 different powertrain options.

The 1969 Camaro featured all-new sheetmetal, with exception of the hood and trunk, which gave the car an overall sportier look. The grille was redesigned, and the new door skins, rear quarter panels, and rear valance panel also gave the car a lower and more aggressive look. This styling was only seen on the 1969 model year with just over 90,000 cars produced.

One of the options available on the 1969 Camaro was the Rally Sport package, the most notable feature being a pair of headlights that disappeared behind hidden doors in the grille.

Offered without reserve from the Tammy Allen collection, set to cross the block at the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction, this 1969 Rally Sport has received a restoration and was customized to be a pro-touring car.

The Camaro is powered by a custom big block 555 cubic inch crate motor with Edelbrock intake, built by Pat Musi, that has been rated with 650 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission is mated to the motor and power is transferred to the ground with a 12-bolt rear end and 3.73 gears.

Custom wire work has been done along with a smoothed firewall for a clean look in the engine bay while other highlights include power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, door locks, windows, and air conditioning.

Additionally, the interior has been upholstered in leather and features a custom sound system.

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro custom coupe and the rest of the Tammy Allen Collection will be crossing the block at no reserve as part of Barrett-Jackson’s ninth annual Las Vegas Auction, October 13-15 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
