Eight cars have been nominated for the Historic Car of the Year award, which will be presented November 17 in London as part of the International Historic Motoring Awards program.
The eight cars up for consideration are:
Alfa Romeo SZ ZagatoThis unique 1960 prototype is half preserved exactly as it was found but also half cleaned and conserved. Its first recent public appearance was earlier this year at the Villa d’Este concours, where it won the preservation prize.Ford GT40 P/1043Winner of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans was fully restored to its race-winning condition to return to public view earlier this year at the 24 Hours race.Henry Segrave’s Sunbeam ‘Tiger’90 years to the day since it set a World Land Speed Record at 125mph, the Tiger returned to the Southport Sands for another run.Jaguar D-type XKD 501The 1956 Le Mans winner sold at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction for $21,780,000, the highest auction price ever paid for a British-built car.Jaguar XJ13 re-creationA recently completed labor-of-love project used agenuine XJ13 quad-cam engine but re-created the rest of the car, originally built in 1966 but destroyed in a crash in 1971.Talbot-Lago T150-C SS Figoni et FalaschiThis car won the “Best of the Best” award presented earlier this year by an international panel of judges who were asked to select the Best of Show winner from six major 2015 concours d’elegance.Touring Disco Volante SpiderBuilt in Touring’s 90th year on Alfa Romeo 8C underpinnings, the Spyder won this year at Villa d’Este and the British Concours of Elegance.Pegaso Z-102 Berlinetta ENASA CúpulaOne-off formerly owned by the dictator of the Dominican Republic had its coming out after a full restoration earlier this year at Amelia Island.Previous winners of the historic car of the year award were the Fiat S76 “Beast of Turin,” the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2287), the Bugatti 57SC Aerolithe re-creation and the Birkin Bentley.
