The first thing that popped into our heads when we laid eyes on this well-built Camaro was: "Some cars just drip presence." Now, that's all well and good unless 'initial draw' doesn't equal 'ultimate impression'. For a car to be truly desirable, that presence must be founded on quality mechanicals. Well, we can certainly attest that this panther definitely has the merit to back up its presence thanks to a massaged LS3, a tough Tremec Magnum and a roster of updated ancillaries that includes names like, Detroit Speed, Truetrac and QA-1. So, without further ado, here's our latest world-class pro-tourer!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a 7-year, ground-up restoration that was completed in October of 2014, this sterling pony car is the product of filler-free, all-original sheetmetal and A LOT of time spent sweating details. From its straight panels to its Nissan Silver Crystal Metallic 2-stage, the car's rock-solid body displays immaculate craftsmanship that was completed by Caldwell Restoration of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. Not surprisingly, every seam on this Main Street king has been aligned to better-than-factory fit. When you step close to the car's slick PPG pigment, you'll find flat surfaces that have traveled mere break-in miles since they were professionally rehabbed. And ultimately, it all adds up to one very impressive classic that looks right at home reflecting summertime car shows!

In the collector car world, the key to attaining great presence is taking something familiar and freshening it just enough to create a lasting impression. In other words, the idea is to take someone who's seen hundreds of '69 Camaros and give them definitive reasons to specifically remember this car. Those reasons begin with a shaved, Flat Black grille, which hangs electric Rally Sport headlights above a mirrored bumper, clear parking lamps and a sharp Pro Touring chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a shaved header leads the eye to a cowl induction hood, polished wipers and all-new glass that's framed in straight stainless trim. Below that hood, the car's smooth profile centers correct mirrors, traditional door handles and standard rocker spears between polished drip rails and fully shaved fenders. And at the back of that profile, a shaved valance hangs billet taillights between a second mirrored bumper and traditional D80 deck spoiler.

ENGINE

Hoist the metallic hood and you'll find 6.2 liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet Performance LS376, that sweet crate engine twists respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 525 horsepower and 475 lb./ft. of everyday torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering, low-end performance, it revs to 6,600 RPM and regularly achieves over 20 MPG! Up top, a custom air tube and reusable filter element funnel wind in to a factory throttle body and familiar composite intake. That air marries fuel in rectangular-port L92-style heads, which hide high-rate springs under color-keyed Corvette rail covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A racing-inspired ASA cam maximizes intake efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, the custom-tuned mill funnels spent gases through coated Street & Performance headers. A polished Mattson's radiator rides between two SPAL cooling fans and a Detroit Speed core support closeout panel. And a smooth Billet Specialties Truetrac system spins a polished alternator opposite a coated AC compressor. Aesthetically, the gray scale engine bay was completely detailed and fitted with a smoothed firewall just before the engine's August, 2012 installation. And items like stainless fluid lines, Taylor plug wires and a chrome Delco Moraine brake booster convey a sense of top-notch detailing.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Behind the modern small block a Science Friction billet steel flywheel engages a Science Friction 1126 Stage 1 clutch, which twists an SFI-housed Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed that's rated for 700 lb./ft. of torque. That transmission, sourced from American Powertrain in July of 2012, spins a color-keyed Ford 9-inch that's fitted with a Truetrac differential and 3.50 gears. Under that driveline, a massaged suspension rolls Detroit Speed coil springs in front of relocated Detroit Speed leaf springs, adjustable QA-1 shocks and Detroit Speed mini tubs. At the corners of that first-class suspension, Wilwood 6 and 4-piston calipers squeeze big drilled and slotted rotors. Modern power steering makes good use of a high quality CPP gearbox. Exhaust floats from the aforementioned headers in to ceramic-coated pipes, which center an X-shaped crossover in front of dual-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Power meets the pavement through polished Billet Specialties Vintecs, which spin two 235/45ZR17 Michelin Pilot Sports in front of two 285/40ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sports. And the car's clean, body-matched floors highlight top-notch finishing components like a custom fuel tank, stainless fluid lines, a custom oil pan and Detroit Speed sub-frame connectors.

INTERIOR

Inside the cockpit, traditional Chevrolet style plays well with a few choice upgrades. Front and center, traditional bucket seats feature extra bolstering under their spotless Black Houndstooth covers. In front of those seats, a wood-trimmed dash hangs modern gauges above Vintage Air climate control and a correct looking AM/FM stereo. At the base of that dash, fresh carpet floats color-keyed floor mats around billet foot pedals, subtle kick speakers and a factory console that frames a modified Hurst shifter. At the edges of that carpet, Deluxe door panels perfectly complement a factory-spec headliner. In front of the driver, a polished steering wheel spins a thick leather rim around a tilting column. And behind the passengers, a clean trunk founds a fresh mat beneath a billet-secured Optima battery.
