Vehicle Description
If you are serious about driving your old car, then this car should capture your attention. It sure caught mine! It was built by a retired and ambitious Construction Equipment engineer. He began with a rust-free Texas car that he bought on Ebay. He spent lots of time, gobs of money and countless nights designing, engineering and building this fantastic hotrod. The body, paint and interior are essentially as they were when he bought it. It has a very nice tan interior of wide pleated leather. The body is very straight and shows no sign of rust or repair. The bright red paint still shows nicely, but does have a few flaws from being driven. After that, most everything has been improved. He installed some new glass, put on the big/little radial tires on steel wheels with new hubcaps and beauty rings, installed correct style LED lights and third brake light, converted the head lamps to halogen and added turn signals. His best work is the mechanical revision. I have a thick folder containing his calculations, drawings, diagrams and part numbers. This car is a mechanical piece of art. The centerpiece is the 275 cubic inch flathead. It has Schneider cam, Offenhauser heads with adjustable lifters, Red’s headers with Smitty mufflers, crank trigger with coil packs and an ECU controlled Hilborn electronic injection system. The chassis dyno read over 200HP before the improperly adjusted, and since replaced, clutch began to slip! The clutch is hydraulic by McLead. Behind it is a T-5 from a Mustang. The rear end is an 8.8 from an Explorer. It has positraction and disc brakes. The front brakes are also disc. The dual-master is vacuum booster and beneath the floor continuous vacuum is provided by an auxiliary electric pump. the front and rear suspension are both by Chassis Engineering. The rear is parallel leaf. Tubular shocks are at all four corners. The front is a Speedway dropped axle with reversed-eye springs and four link. The steering is a Vega box. The radiator is a custom Aluminum model. The fuel system is completely new. All lines are new. The wiring is all new. All soft goods are new. This car is ready to be driven. In fact, Roger drove it a couple thousand miles before deciding to sell it and go to his next project. He says it will cruise the two lane blacktop in fourth and that it simply flies down the freeway in fifth, which is overdrive. This car starts with amazing ease. It performs exceptionally well. It handles the road firmly. Just add fuel and enjoy. If you like to drive your hotrod, this is the car for you. It is built to be reliable and fun. It is a true sleeper.
