Vehicle Description
The story of my 1967 Dodge R/TI purchased a black 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 383 C.I. 4 speed car brand new. I loved it and I had it for 4 years. It only had 19,000 miles on it and still looked like new. Then my wife and I had kids, so we traded in on a familly car and have been kicking butt ever since!
I saw a 1967 Dodge R/T in a magazine in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1997 and went to get it. Then I spent the next 2 years restoring it. Everything on the body has been replaced except for the roof and the passenger door. I had a lot of help from my sons Chad and Chuck.
The paint and body work was done by Huffman Auto Body, the motor was done by Kremm Speed Equipment, and it dinoed 500 H.P. and 530 F.P.T. at 1500 FT above sea level. The interior was done by G&M Upholstery, the firewall and aluminum fan shroud were all done by hand by me (except for the paint on the firewall).
In 2003, I took the car to the Chrysler Classic Events/ MCG Points Series. It won 1966-67 B-Body Modified Class Champion. This car has won over 50 awards and lots of cash money.
The hemi 4 speed is hooked to the heavy 8 3/4 posi with 3.73 gears. The only things that are stock in the motor are the rods and crank. It has Brodix Bl. Aluminum heads, Jigs aluminum pistons, KSE508H custom cam, CC-822Chrystler HYD lifters, and MTN-102 series #1 3/8 puch rods, Crain roller rockers, H.P. Edel Brock water pump, Edel Brock intake with 2 Edel Brock 600 CFM carbs and Kromer Kraft headers. Milodon 7 quart oil pan, Taylor 8mm Vortex wires MSD 6AL ignition box, Malory coil Griffin aluminum radiator, and oil pressure safety switch.
All of the electrical components are in the glove compartment. You can take out 3 screws and pull out a panel, set it on the glove compartment door and work on it right there. People can't find the battery in the car, it's a secret Ho Ho.
I purchased American Racing Torque Thrust polished aluminum wheels for the car but they had no center caps for Mopar. Being a tool and die maker, I ground the name off of the center caps, set them up on a CNC machining center and milled the R/T onto the caps.
