Vehicle Description
Stk 2330 1966 Fiat Jolly Island CarIn 1957 the Chairman of Fiat shipped a standard Fiat 500 model to the Italian design house Ghia Carrozzeria for conversion to 'fun-in-the-sun car' and the Fiat Jolly was born. Featuring a fringed top and wicker seats, the Jolly was designed for wealthy Europeans and the US market. It was expensive ($1,760.00 compared to $998.00 for a standard 500) and was bought by the rich and famous including Aristotle Onassis and Yul Brynner. They were used as yacht tenders, golf carts or estate runabouts. As a result, most surviving examples are low mileage and very collectible. Our Bright Red 500 Jolly is a 1966 model and is in excellent condition. The fringe top looks good and the seats are now vinyl upholstery. The 500 chassis is a rear engine, rear-wheel-drive design. An air-cooled 2-cylinder, overhead valve powerplant has 2-valves per cylinder and develops 17bhp and 37lb/ft of torque. Electrics are 12 volt. The engine transfers power via a 4-speed manual RWD transaxle and brakes are 4-wheel hydraulic drum units. The front suspension is one transverse leaf spring between the front wheels along with an independent coil-over-shock absorber/trailing arm setup in the rear. If you revel in the unique, this Fiat 500 Jolly is for you. Look at the photos - this is one rare European classic. Note: We believe that this is an authentic Ghia 500 Jolly, but have no way to be absolutely sure. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
