Vehicle Description
If you're looking for a stock Mustang, there are plenty of interesting, modified cars running around. But if you're in the mood for something a bit more powerful, say, something to the tune of 550 horsepower, and perhaps built by the factory, then this spectacular supercharged 2007 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 is what you've been waiting for.The color is called Tungsten Gray, and it's an iridescent anthracite that looks like a million bucks on the GT500's hunky sheetmetal. Those are factory-applied Le Mans stripes, augmented by the usual GT500 callouts on the rockers. The bodywork is pretty much stock Shelby-issue, which is certainly not a bad thing, since it accentuates the already aggressive Mustang look with a deeper chin spoiler and a custom deck lid spoiler that's both subtle and effective. Other tricks include a blacked-out grille and vented hood, which is definitely a good idea with all that supercharged horsepower underneath. Showing just 4660 miles on the clock, this car has never really seen anything other than the inside of a garage or an outing on a sunny day, and as a high-end show piece, it has clearly enjoyed the best of care. In fact, we're hard-pressed to find any marks on it anywhere, from the low-hanging chin splitter to the rocker panels. It's obvious that someone loved this car dearly.
The interior is standard Shelby GT500, including the retro-looking seats and instrument panel. Like the exterior, the black leather interior is virtually new with almost no signs of use. Shelby logos everywhere remind you that you're not driving a run-of-the-mill Mustang and the instrument panel dazzles you with a light show every time you key it up. All Shelbys came loaded with just about every option Mustangs could carry, including power windows and locks, A/C, cruise control, and a thumping stereo that puts many aftermarket units to shame. The shifter for the 6-speed manual falls easily to hand and for a car with this much performance potential, it idles so quietly and smoothly that you might try to re-start it after it's already running. You can forget about Mustangs being crude! The trunk is also nicely preserved with no signs that it's ever been used.
Mechanically, the GT500 is no slouch thanks to a supercharged DOHC 5.4-liter V8. Mechanically similar to the engine in the mighty Ford GT supercar, it's incredibly fast but also very user-friendly. Most of that comes from the use of a roots-style supercharger; the big blower sits on the engine like the 6-71s of yore, and channels boosted air pressure into the combustion chambers to make for impressive performance at any speed. And despite being incredibly modification-friendly, this one remains completely stock (as if 550 horsepower wouldn't be enough). Ford ensured the suspension was up to the task with upgraded control arms, sway bars, and high-performance shocks and springs all around. A factory-issued X-pipe exhaust system gives it a voracious bark, and with 3.31 gears in the rear end, it's all you can do to keep it hooked up in the first three gears. Giant disc brakes keep it safe, and big Shelby alloys with 255/45/18 front and 285/40/18 rear Goodyear radials do their best to keep it all stuck to the pavement.
If garden-variety is OK with you, then there are some nice Mustangs out there. But if you've already been there and done that, then perhaps you're ready for this GT500, which takes it to an entirely different level. Call today!
