It runs as good as it looks and offers a great ride. Drop the top, fire up the engine, put it in gear, and just float on down the road!
This eye catching Impala went through a partial restoration in 2000. This included rust repairs and a full repaint in GM Torch Red which really makes the car pop. The top was also replaced and has a glass rear window. The car is accented nicely by the chrome Cragar wheels and General radial tires. The power top works perfectly with a new motor and rebuilt cylinders, and has a glass rear window too.
The engine was replaced with a 350ci Chevy small block with all the basics for a solid street motor; mild cam, aluminum intake, Holley 4-barrel carb with electric choke, and HEI electronic ignition. It starts with a flick of the key and sounds great through the dual exhaust. The transmission is a column-shifted 3-speed manual. That’s right, a three-on-the-tree! It is in excellent condition and shifts like new. The drum brakes are all new and surprisingly effective, while the power steering is great to have on such a big car.
The black interior has a front bench seat with plenty of space. Everything is stock except for the radio and the underdash oil / temp / volt gauges. The seats look nice while the carpet and door panels were just replaced. All features are in good operating condition including the horn, wipers, heater / defroster, dash lights, courtesy lights, and parking brake. Note this car retains its rear seat speaker which is kind of neat. The spare tire and jack are present along with a black boot for the convertible top.
This is really a turn-key car that looks great and has a nice ride. It’s a great way to get into a classic Impala convertible without spending a fortune.
