At the time of its introduction, the 365 GT 2+2 represented significant advances for Ferrari, particularly their 2+2 models. The combination of independent suspension all around for the first time on a 2+2 model and the new torque tube arrangement made the cars quieter, more comfortable, and more capable than ever before. The inclusion of additional convenience and luxury features further enhanced the car's comfort, with standardized power steering and air conditioning. The familiar front-mounted 4.4 liter V12 and attractive Pininfarina styling ensured that the car retained all of the traditional positive Ferrari traits, ensuring an authentic vintage Ferrari experience and an excellent value compared to other front-engined V12 Ferraris from the same period. In all, just 800 examples were built, making these cars quite rare as well.

This car was completed in September of 1970 and was originally light blue metallic. It was sold new by Dino Ravasio & Sons, the Ferrari concessionaire in Verona, Italy, to its first owner, Melzi S.p.A. of Rome. The car was serviced at the Ferrari factory in November of 1970 and June of 1971, and was exported to the United States some point after that, it was repainted red along the way. The car was still red when it was sold by Motorcar Gallery in 2012, and had a quality repaint in Blue Scozia (Dark Blue) since then. A compression check performed in early 2015 indicated compression figures of 145 to 155 psi on all 12 cylinders. In April-May of 2015, the car received some work by Ferrari expert Patrick Ottis, who sorted some electrical issues and replaced the clutch cable. The engine is a correct type #245 365GT unit. We do know the whereabouts of the original block and it is available for purchase, we can pass that information along.

The car makes a strong cosmetic impression with a straight and solid body and good fitment. The paintwork was done to high standards with a nice even finish and good gloss. The bright work is in good overall condition, with just minor surface scratches. The Borrani wire wheels are nicely polished and wear Michelin XWX tires.

The interior is also in very good condition. The leather appears to have been recently replaced and is in great shape. The carpets are similarly nice, as are the remaining upholstered areas such as the dashboard, center console, and door panels. The instruments and switches are in excellent shape. The wood is generally in good shape, with a few minor blemishes. The steering wheel was refinished at some point and shows minor blemishes to the wood. The headliner is correct and in very good condition. The engine compartment is clean and well-detailed. Its appearance is generally correct with wrinkle finish to the valve covers and airbox, as well as correct decals and airbox keepers. The brake booster has the correct decal and has been finished in black. trunk has been retrimmed with new carpet and the spare is a Campagnolo alloy wheel. The underside has been detailed and is impressive and shows that of a well-cared for car.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a very nice driver level 2+2. The car runs and drives well and provides all the definitive elements of the classic Ferrari experience at a considerably lower cost than most vintage Ferraris. It is certainly among the last of the classic front-engined V12 Ferraris that remains remotely affordable, but values have increased significantly in recent years, as they have for all classic twelve cylinder Ferraris. It comes with invoices for recent work by Patrick Ottis as well as a recorded history report.

Of Note: Headlight, High beam, Turn signals , Horn, Wipers, Radio, Antenna, Break lights are all working as they should.
