For sale at Gateway Classic Cars is 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. This two-top convertible is powered by the bad to the bone numbers matching L-71 427. The L-71 is fitted with solid lifters, high compression pop up pistons, steel crank, 4 bolt mains and triple Holley two-barrel carburetors. This is an entirely different animal than the 400-horsepower hydraulic lifter 427. Horsepower figures are not far off between the two with the L-71 being rated at 435. GM was notorious for under rating their engines. 435 was measured at 5,800 RPM, however this engine makes peak power near 6,000 RPM and true power is closer to 450HP. This beautiful example is painted in Polar White with a Black soft top, Black vinyl covered auxiliary hard top and Black vinyl interior. Other equipment includes, optional Bright Metal Wheel Covers, Power Brakes, AM/FM radio, Red stripe Firestones, 3.70 Posi-Traction, M-21 Close ratio Muncie 4-speed and Transistorized ignition. Included with the sale is the original Tank Sticker! The frame off restoration was completed in 2001 and paint was resprayed one year ago and looks fantastic.
