Vehicle Description
Very original 1976 Sprint - exactly like the El Camino with different badging. Only 5,000 Sprints made that year - 45,000 El Caminos produced in '76. No body modifications other than addition of side rails and cover over bed. No engine hot rodding. Much work was done in the last few years including new radiator, AC conversion to R134a, rebuilt 4 barrel carb, gasket replacement on valve covers, repainting valve covers, new plugs and wires, new vinyl top (with a lot of prep on the roof to eliminate surface rust and rust proof it - all vinyl top cars from the 70s trapped moisture under the top. That's no longer a problem here.), brake work, re-chrome rear bumper and other work. AC does not blow cold currently but has worked. Freon?Air shock to raise and lower bed height works. I have hauled a water heater and a few other items in the past. Always very careful to cover all surfaces with blankets when toting something.
I have the factory build sheet, factory new vehicle inspection document from May of '76, owner's manual, maintenance schedule brochure and dealer brochure. Cool paperwork items. Pictures below.
Aftermarket rally wheels and good tires. Paint presents well from 10 feet but will need attention at some point. Paint is a pretty cinnamon color. No rust issues. 71,000 miles. Interesting cloth and vinyl interior (no rips or heavy wear), AM radio and clock delete. Back in the day when you could buy a car that way. Carpet is good. Spare tire is behind the passenger seat as it should be and is in good condition.
350 4 barrel V8 engine, originally from California. New catalytic converters about 8 years ago. A true dual exhaust system so two converters were installed. I have owned it for over 15 years and I believe I'm the 3rd or 4th owner. Will need exhaust gasket and transmission pan gasket replacement but is quite drivable as it is.
Not perfect but nice and attention getting. Stored in my driveway but always covered.
I love this body style and this car but medical and financial issues make a hobby car something I just can't do right now.
Asking $7,000 OBO.
